The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa). It is celebrated on a new moon night sometime in the months of October and November or you can say this festival of lights observed on the 15th day of the month of Kartika in the Hindu calendar. Depavali is gazetted holiday in India. Followers of Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism .
